My niece Sarah (my sister Stephanie's daughter) who is a little over 2 months old, is about to undergo open heart surgery. She wasn't gaining weight and after they ran a ton of tests discovered that she has Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venus Return(TAPVR). The thing that has kept her alive to this point is that all babies are born with a hole in their heart. This hole closes when they take their first
breath. Hers, thanks be to God, did not close. It is still open, though very small. It allows for the oxygenated blood to mix with the old blood and is being pushed through her body. This is the only thing keeping her alive. So the surgeon needs to go in and reconnect the vein that runs from the lungs with oxygenated blood to the heart and then close the hole in her heart. We don't have an exact time of the surgery right now as she was transported from Anchorage, AK to Seattle, WA today. Please pray for the surgery to go smoothly and successfully, for Stephanie and Brian to keep their faith and stay strong, for Jan (Granna) who is in Fairbanks, AK with Jamiee and the boys taking care of them, for our whole family who is praying that all will go perfectly and we (who haven't met her) will have a chance to meet this little angel!!
I will keep this updated as I know more. Thank you!
